One of the more challenging briefs we have received this year was from Aon, the institutional events team wanted to create a looped film to play in the background of events.
The only content the events team had to use for the video were the static print adverts designed for magazine publication. Animations are extremely restricted in most corporate institutions and Aon are no different, after attending a course on how to work with the brand (yes a day long course with a test which needed to be passed) we received the brief and the materials.
We managed to speak to the external team who designed the adverts and gain the layered files, this gave us far more options to do basic animation on the print based files.
The use of a “data ribbon” in Aon’ marketing pulls the campaign together so we developed a concept to animate the data ribbon and use that as the main animation between images. Essentially the data ribbon was used to flow in and out of each of the four scenes. Next we looked at animating some of the key features in the adverts without going outside of the brand guidelines.
The finished video can be viewed below, the events team now use this on at all events they exhibit, this gives a tied in feel to the exhibition stand and the campaigns the marketing team produce throughout the year.
