What is Short Form Video Content?

Short-form video content is a short video (often virtual) that lasts between 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Short-form video content has been made popular by TikTok and Instagram Reels, alongside the stories features on all major platforms.

The key reason for the rise of short-form video content boils down to our attention on social media, demand for quick, punchy content plays into the hands of how users filter and swipe through video. According to Microsoft, the average attention span is only 8 seconds!

Getting short-form video content right helps your brand leverage a shorter attention span and allows you through memorable content to get traction with your audience.

Once you have gained this traction short-form videos often result in far higher engagement, firstly, stands to reason as this is the preferred format of content for the majority of users on the two most popular platforms for short-form videos. As an aside though, good quality short-form videos will give higher engagement as they are widely shared and commented on.

What about us Brands using short-form video

Yes, as a brand you should be using short-form video content as part of your wider marketing strategy.

The usual rules apply, it's great to experiment but you need to look at how you are going to create content that really engages your audience. Too often we see brands using short from as a chunked down advert, while the production values are often great the content performs poorly and its due to the fact that for all the bells and whistles, the content is simply not pitched correctly at the audience. 9/10 times is still a sales advert.

Ok, what should I be doing?

Firstly, drop us a line!

Need more convincing, rather than an elaborate sales pitch you need to show that you understand your audience, it goes back to being relatable, Nike are masters at using short-form videos and the London and Liverpool campaigns feature a combination of people that represent the brand's audience really hits home.
